Since the mid 1990s, the Racial Justice Network of Churches Together in Britain and Ireland has promoted the 2nd Sunday in September as Racial Justice Sunday. It invites giving to support its work, helping churches to engage with racial justice issues in worship and witness. It is building a network of churches, projects and supporters in centres and has a specialist worker addressing issues that affect asylum seekers and refugees.
Racial Justice Sunday (and other occasions in the year too) encourages recognition and celebration of racial diversity, addressing issues of migration, social cohesion and inclusion. Here are opportunities to acknowledge prejudice, to proclaim an inclusive gospel, and to support local action that is part of the Racial Justice Network.
