Prisons Sunday is part of Prisons Week and is held on the 3rd Sunday in November. Since 1975, an ecumenical Prisons Week Committee has encouraged Christians to focus thoughts and prayers on prisoners and their families, on victims of offenders, and on prison staff and all those working for prisoners and their families, including prison chaplains.
