The harvest of bush and vine
Is berry and grape;
The harvest of the Cross
Is salvation for all.

To harvest the Spirit
Needs very much prayer;
To harvest the field
Needs very hard work;
To harvest the vine
Needs continuing care;
To harvest the Cross
Needs faith, that alone.

The harvest of the Spirit
Builds community life;
The harvest of the field
Gives the ‘staff of life’;
The harvest of the vine
Comes best at Christ’s table
The harvest of the Cross
Makes better life possible.
