Vocations Sunday PDF Print E-mail
God does call people to service. Vocations Sunday invites people to recognise a calling to play their part in God’s mission and ministry through the Church. The intention is that we not only recognise a calling, but we take the first steps to respond to it positively.

It is appropriate to consider a calling to lead worship, to preach, to ordained ministry of some kind, but God calls people to many other kinds of ministry too: work with children and young people, services to the community, evangelism, ecumenism, leadership responsibilities, pastoral care, administration and maintenance, financial and fundraising, training and tutoring – the list goes on!

This Sunday could be an occasion for testimony to ways that God has called people to various roles in the church’s life. There could be opportunities to find out more about serving God in such ways. There is likely to be time for quiet prayer, for prayerful listening, for dedication and commitment.
