LWPT Sunday PDF Print E-mail
The Leaders of Worship & Preachers’ Trust (LWPT) is grateful for the many churches in Britain who remember the Trust one Sunday each year. This is an opportunity to describe how the Trust goes about ‘enabling the best for worship’ – with Ichthus magazine, this website, an annual national assembly, an annual fellowship weekend and support for local events. It’s also important to remember how the Trust goes about ‘enabling the best in time of need’ – with access to financial support, practical help and residential care (for example, in one of the LWP Homes).

Prayers for all involved in the Trust’s work and an opportunity to give a donation to the Trust are vital to the continuation of this good work.

Here is a brief presentation about LWPT and a prayer that were used at services in and around Leeds and Wakefield during the LWPT National Assembly 2008. A larger than usual version of the LWPT fish symbol was also used, available by clicking here .

The symbol of the Leaders of Worship and Preachers Trust (LWPT) is the Christian fish. It's a distinctive symbol because this fish is leaping upwards. It has an energy and enthusiasm about it.

LWPT is an ecumenical Trust that seeks to help preachers and leaders of worship to leap upwards – in our faith, in our skills and in our knowledge.

A free magazine each quarter brings an energy and enthusiasm about leading worship and preaching. Events like the annual Assembly and Fellowship weekends enable us to meet more preachers, more leaders of worship and more people than we would normally. Like the LWPT fish, we find our hearts and minds leaping upwards!

When financial circumstances make preaching and worship leading difficult for us, then the Trust is often able to assist. If the LWPT fish knows what it's like swimming against the flow of water, then the Trust itself also helps us to keep going at those times when we are getting swamped by circumstances that affect our Christian ministry.

LWPT also gives that kind of help and more to preachers, leaders of worship and their dependants in time of need - not only financial help, but care and practical help - whatever is the right kind of help when daily living becomes difficult. Many people express amazement, gratitude and relief for the ways that the Trust is a key source of help when they need it most. Their spirits leap up!

The LWPT fish keeps swimming because of the giving of Friends like you. Your legacies, your generous gifts as individuals, donations from your church, your prayers and participation in weekends like this all help the Leaders of Worship and Preachers Trust to leap upwards, providing so many kinds of help. You are Friends indeed. Please give what you can today and during the year, by the Just Giving website, or through a bank, or by post - not to keep us afloat, but to give us that energy and enthusiasm to help the leading of worship and preaching and so much more.

Thank you for your generosity.

Let us pray
Gracious God, we want to share your Good News for the world in Jesus Christ. As we praise you in our worship and delight in your Word, we pray for all those who lead worship and preach. In particular we pray for the work of LWPT and the ways it offers opportunity and help – truly sharing your Good News, encouraging and supporting thousands of people across Britain. May your Holy Spirit move through LWPT and all those it helps and bring blessings on all who share in worship and preaching. We pray in the name of our Friend indeed: Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
