Long before the earth’s creation,
God was active through his grace;
Ready to restore relations
With a sinful human race.
So, in time, our Saviour Jesus
Came to share his life of love:
Teaching, healing and revealing
What was in God’s heart above.

Even as we seek you, Jesus,
You are watching over us
Through your love, forever caring,
Showing what grace always does.
For we find, in our responding,
You choose us, not we choose you;
And the faith, by which we follow,
Is your grace in action, too.

Paul, and others, sensed their calling
Had its source in earliest days;
Offering lives in glad obedience,
Set apart by sovereign grace.
We can never earn salvation,
Often hang our heads in shame,
But we ask that all our living
May bring glory to your name.

When we tread our unknown futures,
Guardian grace has gone before,
Standing by to help and strengthen,
Comfort, challenge and assure.
Then, our days of serving over,
Lived in your prevenient grace,
We’ll rejoice to meet our Maker,
And behold you face to face.
